All About the Dreidel
Aside from
ripping open presents, what to do while the chanukiyah candles are
burning? Play dreidel, of
course. Chaunkah is the
only Jewish holiday that comes with an officially sponsored game.
The stocky little
spinning top has whirled its beguiling spirals throughout the centuries.
It has become a symbol of the Jewish hope that the Maccabee
victory will be revisited with good triumphant over evil once
more.
In Hebrew, the
Dreidel is called Sevivon (Se-vi-vohn) More about the Dreidel.
